W. GLENN DUNCAN JR. - SHOW ME THE MONEY (2021)

Synopsis/blurb....

It’s only a case of some missing money,

So why does someone want to kill Rafferty to keep the truth from getting out?

The only thing he can be sure of is,

You should never ask questions you don’t want to know the answers to …

An enjoyable enough PI novella from the author's Rafferty series. It's a series which was started by W. Glenn Duncan's late father, which he has continued. This was my first taste of it and while this one drops in between books five and six, it wasn't a problem settling into it.

Rafferty is a PI. He lives with girlfriend, Hilda and he usually can rely on best friend Cowboy to dig him out of a hole when needed. Something he does here. Cowboy's significant other is Mimi. She can offer a Plan C back-up, if Plan B gets out-foxed.

Here we have a bog-standard PI case, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing re-inventing the genre. Rafferty is looking into a small hardware business on behalf of the owners. Money is missing and the married couple owners are perplexed.

An investigation and an outcome. Some wise-cracks and action along the way.

Enough content to have me wanting to continue with another Rafferty case in future.

  1. It sounds as though this one's a solid read, Col. I do enjoy a good PI novel, and the characters sound interesting. I also like it that there's not too much to strain credibility here; I prefer my disbelief to sit down with me when I read...

    1. Margot, solid is a good description. More to like here than not.
