DECEMBER ADDITIONS TO THE LIBRARY.......SOME OF AT LEAST

Well the much talked about embargo was kind of deferred as I ended the year acquiring more books for my delectation and amusement at some point in the months and years ahead.

Here are some of the recent additions to the heaving, creaking shelves.

In my defence, I did get a voucher for Christmas that allowed for some indulgence!

2014 - for now at least will see me battling to tame the inner book monkey demons and adding less to the shelves going forward. I probably won't be able to go totally cold turkey on new books to my library, but I will be more disciplined in regards to my book hunting-seeking-gathering.

A few of the much vaunted embargo rules need proper application!

  1. I've read all the Aussie ones (including the adopted Aussie Adrian McKinty) and there's not a dud in that bunch...though I don't much like the UK covers for the McKinty books

Haven't read any of the others but I do agree that the Rachel Joyce title looks most intriguing

    1. Bernadette, thanks. One of my own challenges is to read a lot more from your neck of the woods this year - 12 at least. I managed 4 last year - and one those was set in London! (Robotham's Bombproof)
I have the 3rd in McKinty's trilogy waiting as well (apparently on Amazon UK there's a 4th scheduled for publication 2015 in the UK.) When I read him later on, I don't think I'll include him as part of my Aus challenge - I think I'll always consider him Irish!

I like books like the Joyce one occasionally, something a bit quirky that isn't murder and mayhem, which can be a bit stifling after a while - not that I don't love it!

    1. Yes! I don't think you've ever been boring Bernadette, not on here at least!.
Blogger can be a bit funny - I have problems setting stuff up on my sidebar that looks even semi-presentable, a lot of the time.

  3. Col, a fine and mixed lot of novels. I suppose you'll have to stagger the reading and reviewing of the books. Fourteen new books in the first week of the new year — not bad at all!

    1. Prashant - these were last month's haul. I'm trying to moderate the flow inwards this month, though I have to say it's not going too well at the moment!
      Maybe 2015 then!

  4. Col - Oh, you're in for some good reading. The McGeachin, the Whish-Wilson the McKintys, all are great. And I'm due to read Bitter Wash Road soon, so I'll be interested in what you think of that.

    1. I'm looking forward to them all, Margot. The gang of Aussies will figure in one of my reading challenges this year, so hopefully they won't get too dusty before I get to them!

  5. I am also interested in all the books from Australian authors, plus the Adrian McKinty books. The rest of them, I will wait and see. Happy reading.
