A web photo - not my actual books. Mine are more dis-organised! |
More for my own amusement than for any other reason, I have pulled all my entries together below.
26 weeks, 26 letters, 150 authors, 150 books, at the time of posting I had read 67 of them and 83 were unread, though in the mean-time I have read a further 2 of them.....go me!
2 letters were under-represented on the basis that I was trying to highlight 6 selections weekly from my shelves past and present. At one point I used to keep all my books, but that has sort of become impractical, so now I read and get rid if I can. The I's with 4 and the X's with 2 failed me. Somehow there just doesn't seem to be enough hard-boiled or noir Chinese crime fiction authors translated into English.
There were 16 female author entries and 134 male, enough said!
Approximately 90-odd entries were for US authors, 26 or so English, 7 Irish, and a smattering of South African, Australian, French, Scottish, Welsh and a couple of Chinese. Single entries for Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Holland, Germany and perhaps Belize and New Zealand depending on the author's preferred nationality.
The heavy bias to male written crime originating from the US, probably accurately reflects my reading preferences. You like what you like!

ReplyDeleteKerrie, thanks - I enjoyed it. I will be back next year!
DeleteCol, I'm sure your books aren't as disorganised as the ones in the web photo. Sixty-nine books in about six months? I think you have done very well for yourself. I hope to reach that figure in three years.
ReplyDeleteOh yes they are.....
DeleteI'm averaging about 10 books a month on my reading at the minute, maybe more. A lot of the "read" ones on the Alphabet were from previous years.
I've lost my reading figures for this year from the sidebar on the blog - as Blogger was playing up when I tried to update it!
What a great resource to refer to when I am looking for something different to read from the thousands of ebooks I already own *self deprecating tone* Appreciate you doing this as I am sure I missed the beginning of the alphabet.
ReplyDeleteKeishon - you're welcome. I'm just a people person I guess * self deprecating laugh!*
DeleteHope you find something that interests you. Enjoy your your weekend and your planned viewing!
Very interesting roundup - I do like a few statistics. I think our overlap is quite small (what with you making up titles and all) but I always find your entries a good read, and when we do find a book in common it's a happy moment!
ReplyDeleteMoira, thanks - I don't know whether to feel insulted or flattered - a bit of both...haha!
DeleteI am working on an anthology of hard-boiled, noir titles...provisionally titled - The nonsense from inside my head - I hope you will allow me to dedicate it to your good self, when it sees the light of day?
.
Happy days when our books collide......Peace, Walter, Shames, Irving, Scott........slightly more often than you thought! Ok - maybe not...
Wow, statistics. How do you find the time? and the energy?
ReplyDeleteI am going to write a summary post too but it will be a while. I am looking forward to the next crime fiction alphabet... after a rest, of course.
Thanks - I kind of thought if I didn't do it straight away I wouldn't do it at all. I'm an early bird riser in the morning, so I sacrificed some of my reading time.
DeleteI can kick back for 6 months now - but I won't tackle anything so full on next time around! Its hard enough writing about 1 book a week!
Great job, and I'm impressed that you've covered so many authors in such a short span. I'm just trying to get the last few books for the Global Reading Challenge to get to the small total of 21 different countries! (I'm trying to find something translated from Chinese to keep my interest too.)
ReplyDeleteRebecca thanks. I might try a Global Challenge next year. I haven't signed up to any yet. I've just set myself some personal ones so far.
