STARK HOLBORN - NUNSLINGER 5: LITANY FOR THE BRAVE (2014)

Synopsis/blurb….

The True Tale of how Sister Thomas Josephine of St. Louis, Missouri came to seek Repentance but found Bloodshed in the town of Altar, Mexico.

Sister Thomas Josephine thinks she may finally have found sanctuary in a small Mexican town, but she'll soon find out that her sins will not be easily forgotten...

Biographical Notes

Stark Holborn is the pseduonym of a thrilling new author. But he - or she - knows to keep his friends close... and his secrets closer.

Following closely on from Nunslinger 4, episode 5 sees Muir out of the picture and Sister Josephine in the hands of some Mexican bandits.

Her nemesis Lieutenant Carthy is requiring of her medical ministrations, even though he’d rather die. She gets to put her nursing skills to good use as our band of renegades and Union soldiers have been skirmishing with the Indians. A mysterious widow aids Josephine in her work.
He's enjoying it!

Our nun has struck a deal with the Mexican warlord………..save his men and he’ll forget the $500 bounty on her head. Too trusting by half, Josephine has been double-crossed. $500 pays for a lot of food and ammunition.

She’s headed back to the US in irons, until our devious nursing assistant starts a blood-letting. Sister Thomas Josephine’s life has just taken a turn for the worse…….My Lord, My Lord – Why Have Thou Forsaken Me?    Ok, she didn’t actually say that, but I’m sure the sentiment was there.

  1. Well, life just gets more and more complicated for Sr. Josephine, doesn't it, Col? And that's quite a cliffhanger at the end of the story. Glad you enjoyed this entry.

  4. The size of the book still holds me back. Even in 12 episodes. Maybe someday.

    1. Fair enough, I enjoy them in isolation, but you do need the context of what has gone on before.
