  1. I'm going to investigate Anthony Price, whose name sounds familiar but maybe that's because I'm confusing him with some other Anthony. Hmmm. But some old school espionage is always a good thing.

    1. Vicky this is one of a 19 book long series that was published from 1970-89. Old school indeed......I'll race you to the end!

    2. Fat fingers and careless eyes......Vicki.......sorry for the typo!

  2. Antony Price is very old school - I read a couple (I had a boyfriend years ago who liked him) and it's all very much honour and shame and being a gentleman but doing good spying at the same time.
That looks like a book of Stanley Ellin short stories - I've got one of his stories on the blog today, but if your date of 1967 is right I don't think my one will be in there, pity.

    1. I expect I'll start my Price journey at the beginning, assuming I ever get around to reading pre-owned books in this lifetime.

I've done some more digging on the Ellin collection and I think a slim volume of selected Ellin shorts was published in 1967, with a much fatter, complete volume published in 1979. I reckon my volume is fat enough to have them all - so I reckon I do have your one in there....Lord knows when I'll read it.

    2. I've revised my Ellin date - cheers!

  3. Col - You've got such a nice variety there! I really hope you'll enjoy the Bernie Gunther series. I think it's a very well-done series.

  4. Col, I'm not surprised Anthony Price has been mentioned in comments. I read him a very long time ago and would like to revisit his books. I have often come across Robert Campbell's novels but never picked up any. Nelson DeMille is a fine writer. I read two of his short stories and intend to read his full-length novels.

    1. I ought to read Price as soon as I locate the 1st in the series. CAMPBELL is definitely worth a look. I don't know too many people who have read him TBH. Evangeline Jennings, whose book is on the blog today told me she has. I think he's been forgotten or ignored which is a real shame. I hope you try at least one. DEMILLE - one day!

  5. With so much mention of Anthony Price, I will have to check him out. I will be interested in seeing how you like the Philip Kerr books.

    1. Looking like 2016 for Kerr and Bernie. I think the Price books would be right up your street - like Vicki and Moira claim - proper old school spy stuff!
