2014 will I think see me reading a lot less new authors as I try and concentrate on clearing down some of the unread mountain.
Ok, I have flicked through my notes........other 5 star discoveries were Bill Pronzin, Jon Bassoff , Malcolm Mackay, J. Sydney Jones, Peter Leonard

Col - I'm glad you had so many good experiences with new-to-you authors. It sounds as though you've certainly been motivated to keep testing new reading waters...
ReplyDeleteMargot thanks - I don't want my reading to get stale!
DeleteCol: I agree with Furst as a standout and would have moved Lancet up to standout.
ReplyDeleteBill cheers, I definitely want to read Barry Lancet's next book. Maybe he then moves up a notch?
DeleteOut of 76 books by new authors, it must have been hard to pick. Some I haven't read yet that I hope to read soon: Terry Shames and Rob Kitchin. Bill Pronzini is great and Alan Furst too. Although I have read a lot more Pronzini. I am looking forward to your next year where you read more of what you have already read (authors that is, not books) and I am sure some of those authors will be new to me.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a struggle to choose here and I definitely need to get back to Pronzini this year.
DeleteI've never really thought of the new-to-me count till the last part of 2013, but it is such an interesting direction to look at. I liked reading yours, and should go and do some counting of my own.
ReplyDeleteMoira, I like pulling together stats and summaries. I enjoy other people's as well, can we expect a report soon please?
DeleteCol, I'm the tortoise to your hare—hopefully, I'll catch up, hopefully...
ReplyDeletePrashant, the tortoise got there first in the end, keep plugging away pal!
