You rocked! |
I managed to complete the 12 books during the course of the year, albeit late on a couple of occasions, but hey ho.
I don't think I will keep up with these for 2014. My reading tastes are possible evolving way from this sub-genre and additionally, I'm trying to apply some modicum of control to fecklessly adding more and more books to my library when I already have enough for the next 20 years. I think I had to buy half the books here to participate in the group reads.
6 of the books were re-reads, which is probably another reason to step away from these and concentrate on other books waiting.
You sucked! |
Still these books I read during 2013 were for the most part enjoyable, with only 2 a wee bit stinky!
January - Lawrence Block- The Sins of the Father (4)
February - Richard Morgan - Altered Carbon (2)
March - Dorothy B. Hughes - In a Lonely Place (4)
April - James Crumley - The Last Good Kiss (4)
May - Elmore Leonard - Valdez is Coming (4)
June - Lawrence Block - Grifter's Game (4)
July - Joseph Hansen - Fadeout (4)
August - Duane Swierczynski - The Wheelman (5)

October - Walter Mosley - Devil in a Blue Dress (4)
November - Elmore Leonard - 52 - Pick-Up (5)
December - Charlie Huston - The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death (4)
The pulp fiction reading group - there's an organization I'd like to read the minutes of. I think you could make a great murder story with that title...
ReplyDeleteMoira, you could join and go undercover....
DeleteCol - I'm glad you enjoyed most of what you read for this group. And Moira's right - so many different possibilities for a murder mystery with that title and concept.
ReplyDeleteMargot ......I'll see you over there, with Moira!
DeleteThat actually sounds like a good group, and the group read this month (The Hunter) is one I want to read ... but don't have now, so no matter. A lot in that list I want to read. But I have too many other areas in crime fiction I want to focus on this year (espionage, global) so maybe next year.
ReplyDeleteIt is great that you read all the group reads in this group. I am in several groups on Goodreads and have only read one group read.
Cheers Tracy. I read The Hunter a few years ago, which is kind of why I'm happy to step away from the monthly reads now. A lot of repeats for me....and I don't have enough time to read everything once!
DeleteI can't find a decent espionage group over there, any hints?
I have not seen an espionage group, but if I do, I will be sure and let you know. I was just thinking about re-reading books lately. There are some I would like to but where do I find the time? I truly believe some books are best enjoyed after the first read.
DeleteThanks, I think I'd agree on re-reads but time is my problem.
DeleteCol, I'm definitely going to read books by Block and Leonard this year. They have such a wide appeal among readers and bloggers.
ReplyDeleteTwo fine authors, you could do a lot worse than reading these two,
DeleteHa. You would pick a Jim Thompson that sucked. Thankfully, I didn't grab that one.
ReplyDeleteI'll forgive him, as long as the next one of his is better!
