DeleteQuite a few authors here I do not know. Here’s a question Col: In logging the library, do you find you have doubles? I’ve picked up novels in used book shops only to find later that I already had it. Then there are times when I pass on a book because I know I have it only to recall later that I gave mine to someone to read and never got it back.
ReplyDeleteElgin, I've just tabbed through the spreadsheet and I have 29 duplicate books, which isn't too bad - 29 less to read at any case. I suppose I must err on the side of caution, buy it twice rather than run the risk of not having it. No doubt I will have a few more, where they may have been issued twice under different titles.
Delete3,300 books? That's a heap of books, Col! I don't know whether I should feel envious, or relieved that my own lot doesn't exceed 500. I have some unintended duplicates too, including Elmore Leonard.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for some Spillane paperbacks. I like his narrative style. I think Stuart Neville deserves a read too. I also need to sink my teeth into Irish crime fiction.
Prashant - 3300 is a ridiculous figure and I'm nowhere near finished. I haven't yet tried Mickey Spillane - one of these years I'll get around to it!

Nothing wrong with the spelling of "discreet" in that book title. "Discrete" means something else.
John, you know if I had a bet on which one of the 50 you might take a punt on, I would have had a fiver on the Donovan - don't know why I felt that - maybe the cover and title.

DeleteQuite a few there I recognize from, or read in, the 80s and early 90s, some I haven't thought of in years. The Schopenhauer Telescope is a brilliant title, I'll have to have a look at that one...

DeleteThat is a real mixed bag of books. A lot of them I am not familiar with. I would like to get to OUTSIDER IN AMSTERDAM this year, but who knows? I have MERCY by Adler-Olsen, but by its other title, The Keeper of Lost Causes. I should get to that one this year too.

I only have the one Amsterdam Cops book which was very restrained of me! I hope you enjoy it, you're bound to beat me to it. I've not yet tried any ADLER-OLSEN either.
