  1. I have a hardback edition of Erskine Childers' THE RIDDLE OF THE SANDS that I still have to read. You are right, it is considered as to be the first or very earliest espionage fiction. I have read and enjoyed a couple of short stories by Nelson DeMille, and plan on reading some of his long novels.

    1. I will read the Childers at some point, but I'm in no rush. I have a few of DeMille books, but I haven't tried him yet I'm afraid.

  2. You do have some good 'uns there, Col. I see you have Marshall Karp, and I'm glad of it. I love his wit, and I think his stories are well-written, too. I really hope you'll like his work.

    1. Margot, I've not yet tried Marshall Karp, but part of the appeal was the humour element.

  3. I have been wanting to catalog my Kindle books, otherwise I forget they are there. But I don't ever seem to have the time. Looks like you have a lot of good books in this box.

    1. I would like to get a permanent fix on what books I have, but I'm kind of dissuaded by how much effort I would need to put in. It is likely to be as troublesome as the tubs, because as soon as you open a book it goes to the front of the queue and some of the review copies I have on my device don't have title pages, so you have to open it to see what it is.

  4. Another happy trove, I'd say. Aside from the obvious picks (Rankin, Greene, Indridason, Robinson, Grafton, Billingham), the Palast is quite a lot of fun.

    1. Not a bad tub at all, I do like a bit of non-fiction now and again, though I don't read as much as I ought to. I have a couple of Palast's other books as well as others of a similar ilk....Mark Thomas, Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore,

  5. Not so many I recognize here, but some tempting covers and titles - quite a few I would pick up if I were in a bookshop.
