Tub 60 - put to bed! |
29 "F"Authors in this tub, so I obviously at some point harbored the illusion that I could sort and log the tubs alphabetically. It would be like trying to solve the world's biggest Rubik cube in the confines of a small loft, I quickly dismissed that idea as impractical. It's been difficult enough cataloging the bloody things!
HIGHLIGHTS..... the recently passed
Dan Fante, Dan Fesperman, Anthony Frewin, Carl Hiaasen and an interesting
Polish author
Zygmunt Milozewski
LOWLIGHTS.... not too sure how I'll get on with
John Connolly - hopefully it isn't full of cooking recipes and hints and
Scott Sigler's books may be great but wouldn't be high up on a list of books I'd choose to read - a bit science-fictionish for my liking, I reckon. Passed onto me from my son.

I want to read more Dan Fesperman and more Ian Fleming in 2016. (I always have hopes.) I have read several of the Christopher Fowler series, have you read any of them yet? We both have that Fender Benders book, and the Jasper Gibson book has a great cover.
ReplyDeleteTracy, I've not read either of those two yet! (Heavy sigh) I have managed the first of Fowler's Bryant and May series, but a few years ago.I enjoyed it, but wasn't blown away by it. Fitzhugh, I've also read previously but can't recall which one and the Gibson I found cheap and then realised afterwards I already had it on Kindle - bought when it was a £1. I'll probably read it in paperback.
DeleteI have a soft spot for Vince Flynn - his books one saved me when I was trapped on holiday with *no* reading material left (a horrible sensation).
ReplyDeleteI think I'll enjoy Flynn when I get to him. I've had a similar holiday experience with Danielle Steele and Jackie Collins getting me out of the sh*t! FFS!
DeleteThe thing about Ian Fleming is that I have seen all the films based on his novels and probably read just one of them. I read Ludlum and Follett in my teens and early twenties. They were popular bestselling authors in 80's India. I remember Follett's EYE OF THE NEEDLE as a particularly good WW2 thriller. Some good covers and titles there, Col. Your tubs are looking more and more intimidating.
ReplyDeleteOne more than me! I was never really a fan of Bond, not identifying with his Britishness. I have enjoyed the last few films, but not yet seen the latest. Follett hasn't been read yet either.
DeleteI have just embarked on reading the James Bond books (which I first read many years ago and haven't touched since) - would be good to hear your opinions. Move em up the pile!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll enjoy the books better than the films. Maybe the first will feature as a meme year over at Rich's this year. I can't be reading them out of order.
