US crime fiction. |
Col, these are some great covers and I hope the stories inside live up to them and to your expectations. I bought six used paperbacks for less than two pounds over three months and nothing so far in December.
ReplyDeletePrashant thanks. 6 books in 3 months - I admire your restraint!
DeleteNew books new books! I haven't seen any for ages. I might not envy you these particular ones, but I envy you the concept.....
ReplyDeleteStolen kidneys, Dead Hookers - not singing out to you?
DeleteHope your embargo finishes soon, mine's hopefully started.....though yesterday I nearly gave in to temptation.....Get Thee Behind Me Bookseller/Author!
Col - You've got some interesting new finds there. I'll be especially keen to know what you think of the Nigel Bird when you get to it.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of other bits and bobs from Nigel Bird on the kindle, but I haven't yet got to him! 2015 maybe
DeleteSome good-lookin' books there!
ReplyDeleteYou say Gilbert's Roller-Coaster is #3 in a series. What's the series?
Cheers - some decent reads ahead of me (hopefully!)
DeleteI rely on Fantastic Fiction for most of my info regarding authors, books and series. There are "apparently" 3 books featuring Patrick Petrella - Petrella @ Q (1977), The Young Petrella (1988) and Roller Coaster (1994).
On closer examination the first two are collections of short stories featuring PP, whereas the 3rd is a novel. I may not feel compelled to back track on him now.
Oooh! I know the short stories but I hadn't realized there was a Petrella novel. I may have to dig out a copy of this.
DeleteAlthough Smallbone Deceased is one of my #1 guilty pleasures -- I read it every few years -- I'm a bit remiss about my MG reading. I was reminded of this just the other day, with the result that I've now started on The Killing of Katie Steelstock. A quick visit to Wikipedia a few minutes ago has shown me -- devastatingly -- how many others I've missed.
I've not yet read any MG. I have DEATH IN CAPTIVITY unread and this latest addition. I'm hoping I enjoy them both - but not too much otherwise I'll feel compelled to go overboard on the rest of his books! I will check out the two you've mentioned, just to see if they have any appeal - I'll possibly add them to the wish-list thereafter.
