HIGHLIGHTS.... I'm looking forward to a bit of
Kevin Wignall, P. G. Sturges and
Lynn Kostoff in particular.
T. Jefferson Parker hasn't disappointed yet either. Neither has
Bill Pronzini.
LOWLIGHTS..... I'm not too sure why I bought the
Iain Banks book and similarly
Robert Wilson. Hopefully reading them changes my mind!

You've got some good 'uns there, Col. Can't beat a bit of Nameless, and I see you have some Stan Jones, too. I like his series very much. You've reminded me, too, that I want to put a Henry Chang novel in the spotlight at some point. His detective Yu stories are well-written, I think.
ReplyDeleteMargot, I'm looking forward to both Chang and Jones when I eventually get there! Sometime in the next 10 years probably...
DeleteCol, that first Bill Pronzini cover is really something. It doesn't look like a 2012 publication; more like 60s or 70s.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely has a Pulp look to it, Prashant.
DeleteI'll be interested to hear what you think of the Duhrenmatts, once you get to them. I enjoyed them really quite a lot.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of the Ammaniti and the Jones. I must see if they're in the library when I'm in there later today.
I'm sure I only buy books to hoard rather than read. All 3 authors mentioned I haven't yet gotten to.
DeleteI'm probably most interested in Jones and the Alaskan setting, as I've only ever read Call of the Wild from the region.
Some interesting books there. I want to read more of Henry Chang, and I have WHITE SKY, BLACK ICE by Stan Jones. I have read a couple of books by Robert Wilson, two very different books. But not any from the series that THE HIDDEN ASSASSIN is in.
ReplyDeleteChang or Jones are two (of many) I haven't read anything by yet. The Wilson books aren't singing out to me, still if I ever need a doorstop.
DeleteOf these I think the ones I would be interested, I have already read! So this particular set doesn't tempt me, I'm not off looking them up on amazon....
ReplyDeleteI thought the chef turned author might call out to you, but never mind there's always tubs 53!
DeleteMargaret Millar catches my eye - I keep seeing her name popping up with good recommendations.
ReplyDeleteI've not yet read her, or her other half.......2016 perhaps?
