"November additions? What about the embargo?" I hear you say.
"What embargo?" I reply, feigning memory loss.
Well it's like this, I got a decent sized voucher for my birthday at the tail-end of October and I decided to put it to good use..........and after feeding an addiction for 20 plus years, I can't really be expected to go totally cold turkey!
Anyway, this is some of what was added to the already heaving library shelves.

I would anticipate a further post of this ilk in a month's time, as I gave my son a list of books I would like for Christmas. Let's hope he was paying attention!
Embargo might start in 2014 - makes sense really!
I feel as though you could make a story with the titles and comments on these covers, illustrated of course by the images. Chinese Jars sounds good, and I have read Clubbable Woman many years ago.
ReplyDeleteMoira thanks - I couldn't find the image that suited the copy of Margaret Craven's "I Heard the Owl" book that you made me acquire in November, otherwise you would have been on the wall of shame as well!
DeleteCol, I first got to know of Ian Rankin, Deon Meyer, and Dana King after I started blogging and I've since heard a lot of good things about these authors and their work. I plan to read some of their books, hopefully soon. Thank god, we don't have a WTO for purchasing books!
ReplyDeletePrashant, I'm particularly looking forward to Dana King's book from the 3 you've mentioned. Feel free to join me!
DeleteCol - Oh, you've got some good 'uns there! I think you'll really like Line of Sight - well I hope you will. And I thought the Hill, the Rankin and the Meyer were great too. You're in for some good reading.
ReplyDeleteMargot - you can take the blame for Line of Sight - I think you spotlighted it. Looking forward to it though!
DeleteI read Villain and enjoyed it very much! Some of your titles I have as well. Looks like you have some good reading ahead of you. I've never read Reginald Hill and can't wait to dive in. Of course some of his earlier work is not digitized (my preferred format) but I'll read what I can get. I'm told that his series book don't require me to read them in order so I hope that's true.
ReplyDeleteKeishon - I was a bit ambivalent about Villain, but if it comes with your endorsement, I'm glad I plumped for it.
DeleteI also got Christie's 4.50 Paddington book - so you have your slot on the wall of shame as well. Tracy similarly has a lot to answer for re Reginald Hill!
I loved 4:50 to Paddington! It's a sure bet because it's Agatha Christie. Ha. Villain is kind of...out there and it was slow getting started for me but it picks up. I'm not sure how you gonna like that one or if you don't doesn't matter. I'll enjoy the reviews all the same.
DeleteI'll probably read the Christie before Villain, as I may sign up for a Vintage Mystery Challenge that Tracy mentioned a few weeks ago. I haven't read AC for over 30 years!
DeleteCol, Glad to see you are going to try Reginald Hill. Hope you like his books. You have some there I have never heard of and I will wait for your reviews. I hope to read Villain in January, and Chinese Jars and Mystic Arts after that.
ReplyDeleteI plan to have some sort of embargo starting in January. Did not work last year, but I have firmer resolve now.
Tracy, Hill should fit in somewhere in the Vintage thing you mentioned previously. I'm not sure when I will get to Villain. Mystic should be this month.
DeleteEmbargo of sorts 2014 then!
Oh, I hope you like The Chinese Jars after I gave it my build up. I've ordered and received the next three in the series. No embargo here, unfortunately. And Villain looks good so I'll have to check that out. Wait, Tracy just said she has it so I'm set with that.
ReplyDeleteGlen, I am liking San Francisco as a setting, so The Chinese Jars should be good. I don't know when Villain will be read, I have a few ahead of it.
