Col - I like Peter Robinson's Alan Banks series quite a lot. I hope you will too. And I see you have a couple of collections of shorter stories. I think they can be really interesting ways to decide what you think of an author's work. At any rate, you've got lots to keep you busy there...

DeleteI like Peter Robinson's books too, so far as I have read them. But I am also intimidated by the number of them. I should read more of them though... he is Canadian so would count for that challenge.
ReplyDeleteJust looked him up again, as I had him pegged as an English author, but I suppose he qualifies by birth as English but as Canadian by residence, maybe citizenship? Anyway Inspector Banks is upto 23 books so far and I think the only one of his I have read is the first!
DeleteNothing much to tempt me there on first sight, but you might well persuade me with actual reviews when the time comes. I had never heard of Harry Crews, though obviously an important person in some circles!

DeleteCol, I have been meaning to read Charles Willeford having discovered him and his books only after I started blogging. Actually, that's the case with many of the books that I have read since I took to blogging. I don't know if that's good or bad.
ReplyDeleteWilleford is one of my favourite authors. I think his Hoke Moseley series of books - which I haven't yet uncovered in my sorting and logging are some of my favourites in the crime genre.

DeleteYou're welcome. COCKFIGHTER was also made into a film in the 70's. I might try and track it down in addition to MIAMI BLUES. I think he also had a small part in it.
DeleteHis first published work was poetry in an anthology-collection of loose leaf pieces back in the late 40's.
I love Charles Willeford. I'm kind of hoarding his books.
