DANNY KING - A 4-KING CRACKER

Synopsis/blurb…..

It gives us great pleasure to bring you this exclusive four story collection of shorts from Danny King - acclaimed writer of recent 'Brit-Grit' hit film 'Wild Bill'.

The first story 'The Man With No Life' features two of his most enduring characters, Bex and Ollie from the 'Burglar Diaries' series. The second, 'Rock God Of The Future' was written specifically for this anthology - with Danny's usual tongue-in-cheek social comment - while 'A Sitcom What I Once Wrote' is a cathartic tale he wrote based upon his own experiences with the BBC3 sitcom 'Thieves Like Us'. Finally, 'Asking For It' is a departure in form from his normal comic outlook but, being dark and urban, it fits right in with us here at Byker Books and was thus included.

If you know about Danny King already then you need this in your life - no question! If you don't know about Danny yet then at less than two quid this exclusive Kindle collection provides an excellently priced way to discover the biting wit and street-savvy of the man David Baddiel described as 'One of the few writers to make me laugh-out-loud.'

I've read a couple of Danny King books in my time, though not for a few years now. He had a series of diary books……..Hitman, Burglar, Pornographer and Bank Robber which were right up my street.
He writes a sort of blokey-laddish type of fiction which appeals to me.

This collection of 4 short stories was an Amazon freebie a few months ago. I wouldn't class it as literature but it is laugh out loud funny and entertained me, which was all I wanted at the time.

The Man With No Life ……… I think anyone who has endured the awkwardness of dealing with estranged family could relate to it. For all its irreverence there’s a realism and King touches on a few nerves here – at least for this reader.

Thieves Like Us…..I've not encountered the world of television and pitching and script writers and producers, but there’s obviously a man writing this who has……worth the price of the admission fee on its own (yes I know I got it for free)….. laugh out loud funny.

The other two – one amusing, one dark…verdict on all 4 overall ………crackers indeed!

Time to scour the tubs for something longer from him. His website is here.

  1. I always think short stories can be a great way to get to know an author, Col. And stories with a lot of wit in them? Fun way to pass the time!
