I love Herron's Slough House - Jackson Lamb series, but he's written a lot more than that - three standalone novels and four with PI Zoe Boehm.

From what I've read from Herron so far Slough House stuff only, he's the kind of writer who could entertain me with his shopping list.
The Marylebone Drop (2018),
The List (2015)
Dead Lions (2013)
Slow Horses (2010)
Smoke and Whispers (2009)

Tom Bettany is working at a meat processing plant in France when he gets a voicemail telling him that his estranged 26-year-old son is dead.
Liam Bettany fell from his London balcony, where he was smoking dope. Now, for the first time since he cut all ties years ago, Bettany returns home, to find out the truth about his son's death.
But more than a few people are interested to hear Bettany is back in town. He might have thought he'd left it all behind when he first skipped town, but nobody really just walks away.
These sound good, Col. There are those authors, aren't there, who are so good at what they do that their shopping lists would keep us absorbed. I have authors like that, too, and I'm glad Herron is one of yours.
ReplyDeleteI do really like his work Margot.
DeleteI read the first two books in the Zoe Boehm series and loved both of them. Also two books in the Slough House series, which is also very good. I agree about his writing style. I have Nobody Walks but have not read it yet. I do hope to get to more of his books soon.
ReplyDeleteYou're ahead of me then Tracy, so I'll do my best to catch up!
DeleteHe's very productive isn't he? I'm like you, will read anything by him. Tracy very kindly sent me the first of the Zoe Boehm books, and I read it, then immediately read the next one in the series, and am now up to the one you mention above I think. I haven't even blogged on them because I was too involved in reading them!
ReplyDeleteI like it when we all have someone in common who we adore. I do need to dust some of the early ones off though and get reading.
DeleteCol – Herron is on my list. Thanks for the post.
ReplyDeleteElgin, I hope you enjoy his work when you get there mate.
