13 different authors, it's hard to qualify the 2 short story compilations. Most if not all the authors in both were previously untired.
10 of the 13 were new-to-me authors........Bradley Spinelli. Mark Wilson, Jonathan Woods, Mark Hill, David F. Ross, David Jackson, T. R. Pearson, Rob Pierce, Steve Finbow, Gareth Spark.
3 authors have been enjoyed before....... Brendan Gisby, Pascal Garnier and David Putnam - Gisby the once, the others 3 times previously each.
I still have unread books from 6 of these on the shelf, in the tubs or on the Kindle.
Pascal Garnier, Rob Pierce, Mark Wilson ( aka C. P. Wilson), Jonathan Woods, Brendan Gisby and T. R. Pearson Gender analysis - no surprises here - 13 male reads, ZERO female - I ought to have had at least one token Julie in the mix.
I think 5 authors hail from the US, 4 authors are English, 3 from Scotland and 1 from France - with two anthologies unclassified.
12 were fiction reads - 11 novels or novellas, 1 collection of shorts from Gareth Spark and 1 was a short biography Brendan Gisby's homage to his father.2 were collections of short stories,
14 were published this decade - 5 from this year, 4 from 2016, 2 - 2015, 3 - 2014 and 2 from 2013.
Only 1 book was earlier than this decade - the McSweeney Quarterly from 2009.
8 of the 15 books were pre-owned - 4 came via the publisher, 1 from the author, 2 were from Edelweiss - Above the Treeline - an early review site, similar to Net Galley..

ReplyDeleteI love all the artwork on this publisher's covers - 280 Steps. Unfortunately they have closed their doors now and the book is no longer available in this edition. I think Amazon may have print copies still available, but I believe all the rights have reverted back to the authors. Maybe if Mr Woods republishes the book will have a different cover.

ReplyDeleteI think you would enjoy them all, especially Finbow's offering. I think the Woods book might be expensive at the minute. In the UK you can only get a printed copy at the minute, because 280 Steps have closed down.
