  1. I have got to read some Gerald Seymour. I have completely missed him. And Gil Brewer too.

    1. Seymour is perhaps an old school thriller writer, so would probably be right up your street, I think. The Brewer's seem pulpish and short - two plusses!

  2. Gerald Seymour is a favorite of mine. Happy New Year, Col.

    1. Elgin, I've read a couple of his so far and they were both very enjoyable. I hope 2016 is a good one for you too!

  3. I feel sorry for 'Toast', held captive among the thrillers. I've not read any Seymour, but he does sound very promising - always good to have a thriller recommendation.

    1. Haha - TOAST is a kind of autobiography of a TV-chef-cum-author Nigel Slater. My wife likes his cook books. I like the guy because he comes across as a gentle, genuinely nice bloke - not self-satisified and uber-smug like a lot of his contemporaries (yes Jamie Oliver, I'm thinking of you).

Seymour is well worth a punt in my opinion - I can recommend THE OUTSIDERS and HARRY'S GAME, as they are the two I've read.

  4. I too have missed out on Seymour -- should give him a try. The two Brewers look pretty mouthwatering (and may be quite valuable!) and the Pronzini should be fn, if vol 1 in the series is anything to go by.

    1. Blimey another candidate for Gerald Seymour. Plenty to choose from.
I have a few Brewers knocking around but not many originals, most are reprints/reissues.
Read them, cash them in and buy more books! Sounds like a sensible plan apart from the last bit!

  5. I'm sure Gerald Seymour is wonderful, but I'm rather remembering a Dame Edna Everage joke about another author along the lines of 'don't write any more books till we've all had a chance to catch up.'

    1. Well you will be extremely proud of me - I haven't bought the latest one from him, perhaps even the last two.....what control eh?

  6. I don't know how I have missed Gerald Seymour all this time. Some of his books look very appealing. You have several Ross Macdonald books there. I haven't gotten as far along in his books as I had planned.

    1. Roll on the book sale, I'm sure you might find Seymour there! With Lew Archer, I haven't even started yet, so don't beat yourself up Tracy.
