  1. You've got some interesting choices there, Col. I hope you'll like the C.J. Box (I like his Joe Pickett series), and I see you have a Nigel Bird there, too. I think he's got talent. Oh, and I just love that Block title! Hope you'll enjoy these.

    1. I've not yet tried C.J. Box. Nigel Bird is very good and Block is.....Block!:-)

  2. Alright, Col, I'll admit I'm curious about "Black Neon" which is either about female vampires or werewolves, and then again I could be wrong. I'm intrigued by the Lawrence Block title too.

    1. Well I'm not a big vampire or werewolf fan Prashant. The synopsis for BLACK NEON reads.....
Lupita and Genesis have just wasted a drug dealer and hit the open road with a suitcase full of dirty money and crystal meth. Little do they know that their road trip will set them on a collision course with a side of American life even darker and weirder than their own.

The Block book is part of his Tanner series about an agent/spy written in the 60s and 70s mainly. He did re-visit the character in '98 after a 28 year gap.

    2. Was I off the mark! I haven't read any of Block's Tanner series.

    3. Haha - good effort though. I haven't tried any of his Tanner's either.

  3. Is there ever a month where there's more out than in? Just asking. I'm a fan of Box, and you kindly sent me the other Sweazy - which I'll be covering soon - is this in the same series?

    1. Err, not since starting the blog. I'll see if I can tip the balance in December (which already means November's a write-off after a week!) No the Sweazy seems totally different with as far as I can tell a present day setting.

  4. Oh, well, this makes me a lot less ashamed of the serial indiscretions committed at the local library sale a couple of weeks back . . .

    1. Oh well - if you can't buy a book or two what the hell's wrong with the world...

  5. Some really nice covers here. I will be reading The Cancelled Czech someday. Never have read C. J. Box and I will be eager to hear what you think of the Sweazy book.

    1. Box will be new to me as well when I give him a go. And I'm hoping to enjoy Sweazy slightly more than last time.
