  1. Oh, you've got some good-uns, there, Col. Bruen, Hillerman, Smith, and I saw that Deighton in there. And every once in a while I do like an anthology, too.

    1. Margot - agreed! I'm hopeful I can read some of these in the not too distant future!

  2. Some interesting authors there. Lots of Bruen. I have been wanting to read Henry Porter but haven't found any of his books.

    1. Will you have a chance of finding Porter at the legendary book sale or has his books not been published in the US?
Bruen has turned up, so no real excuses for not getting back on the Jack Taylor horse, seeing as I've read the first two......only time.

    2. There is always a chance of finding an author, possibly even in UK editions. One never knows. It does look like at least A Spy's Life has a US edition. Some day it will turn up or I will turn to online options.

I need to read more Bruen also, and his books are short too.

  3. Col, many unknown names in this lot, which doesn't exactly make me feel good. I have come across a few Ken Bruens though I have never picked up any. I have also meant to read Dean Koontz, an author I learnt of at the time I read my first book by Martin Cruz Smith over a decade ago.

    1. Koontz was a favourite back in the late 80s early 90s, but I kind of felt he started repeating himself. A book from him every year or three won't hurt!

  4. A Kiss Before Dying is one of my 'best twist' books, it is excellent. I liked the Denis Lehane (though you need to read Gone Baby Gone first) and of course the Deighton. Snowdrops I read and disliked, you'll probably love it.

    1. I have read Gone Baby Gone, but can't remember off the top of my head if it was culled or saved for a re-visit, Deighton - maybe next year?, Snowdrops - I'll have to read the back cover on for a prompt.

  5. Oooh, yes, A Kiss Before Dying - best twist. Also I now feel bad about my unread copy of Child-44. I picked it up at one point and opened it and the typesetting did my head in, but I want to read it and now it's on the very bottom of a large pile and I don't see myself ever extracting it. I may have to buy it as an ebook... *bad person*

    1. Maybe I'll have to dig into the Levin book soon then - 2 recommendations. Not examined the text on the Child 44 books, but I doubt its as troubling as the old orange Penguins! Plus I had some new reading glasses a month ago - I should cope!

  6. I just got a check for over $500.

Sometimes people don't believe me when I tell them about how much you can earn filling out paid surveys from home...

So I took a video of myself getting paid over $500 for doing paid surveys.
