Oh, I really hope you'll like the Benacquistas, Col. And I see you've several Westlakes, too, and some Himes - nice!! I thought the C.J. Box was very well done; it's a standalone that to me showed he can do both standalone and series quite well.
ReplyDeleteMargot - I am looking forward to Benacquista's books - I think these two are linked or at least they appear on Fantastic Fiction as a "loose series."

Lots of good books there, Col. Gerald Seymour is very good. I’ve only read one Shane Maloney, NICE TRY, and need to catch up.

DeleteOh, I envy you the Graham Greene omni in particular . . . assuming it's not one of those with tiny margins and tiny print. I really must get round to reading some more of his work.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the text is too bad, thankfully. That said I have just had new glasses, though by the time I get around to it they'll probably need changing again.
DeleteI want to read more Graham Greene also, but not in a huge volume. Glen wants to try the Malcolm Pryce series.

DeleteI didn't get over-excited when I read the first Malcolm Pryce book a few years ago. Maybe the second will be better, I hope so!
A very varied selection there. I have a lot of issues with Kingsley Amis, and his views, and his later work, but Lucky Jim is still one of the funniest books I have ever read. Are you getting near the end of this mammoth task?
ReplyDeleteI had two Kingsley books recommended to me. Bought them both and filed them away (a familiar tale eh?)....Lucky Jim and The Old Devils. What's so objectionable about him?

Col, Graham Greene is an author I have not read for a very long time. Those two John Irving titles look good and I'm going to look for them since I'm a fan of his work.
