Always happy to see when people have Hillermans among their collections, Col. :-) And I see you have a Garcia Marquez, too. I wonder what you'll make of 100 Years of Solitude. It's a different sort of book.
ReplyDeleteI've heard good things about the Garcia Marquez so thought I'll have a mooch at some point.Tony Hillerman is long over due a read. He's one of many authors I enjoyed in the past but for some inexplicable reason stopped actually reading!
DeleteI need to read some Eddie Bunker. I did not know he wrote the book and script that became the movie, “Straight Time,” a good, if overlooked film. Thanks, Col.
ReplyDeleteI've not yet seen Straight Time - Dustin Hoffman isn't it? I'll have to make the effort. There's a few to choose from with Bunker's books, some pretty autobiographical in tone. I always admired how he turned his life around.
DeleteI haven’t see it in a long time, but I recall Dustin Hoffman’s fatally flawed criminal as one of his best roles.
DeleteMore tempted than ever to try and track a copy down - cheers! I think!
DeleteSome interesting books in this tub. I wish I could get back into the John Harvey series. I have read a couple and have several more to read.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have even started his Resnick series! I've read a couple of his Westerns. Maybe next year when I'm more organised?
DeletePlenty to get your teeth into there! That's a great cover on the Block. The Distant Echo is my favorite of the McDermids I've read so far.
ReplyDeleteAgreed - though when I'll find the time is anybody's guess. I've only really read a few of her Lindsay Gordon early stuff - I'm definitely missing out I reckon.
DeleteCol, Tub 42 has a great collection of books. I need to pay more attention to Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Philip Roth, and read the couple of Marlowe's in my own tub.
ReplyDeleteI quite like something a bit more literary on occasion. Not that often mind you.
DeleteI quite like something a bit more literary on occasion. Not that often mind you.
DeleteAn all-time low for me - I've only read the Lee Child (currently having a re-read of his early ones as I think I'm far enough away from my first read to have safely forgotten what happened) and the Ben Macintyre (fascinating story - I'd definitely read his sort of history again).
ReplyDeleteI've read a few Child books - some early ones in the series. I think the longer I leave it the less inclined I am to continue with him - shame as I have about a zillion in the tubs then! Not yet tried any of MacIntyre's books but they so look good.
