Highlights......I'm looking forward to Haske's book, Dennis Tafoya and Jerry Stahl. I can start Garry Disher's Wyatt series now I've located the first couple. Georges Simenon, I haven't yet read. Markham's book was published then pulled - so that'll be interesting.

Lowlights......nothing frightening.

Hopefully I have better luck second time around tackling Patricia Highsmith's Ripley.

  1. These are some great authors, Col! Disher, Mcdonald/Millar, one of the Martin Beck books, and Dibdin too - nice. And I saw that Agatha Christie! :-)

    1. Margot thanks. Christie lurks in the tubs! Not in any great numbers, but a few for a taster!

  2. I have a book by Bill Granger, but it's a cookbook, so I'm guessing a different Bill. Like Margot, I clocked the Christie - that would be a very good one to start on...

    1. It might be the same one - an American Len Deighton maybe? If only I'd logged this one a month earlier I could have read CROOKED HOUSE for the meme! (No 1934 book located yet!)

    2. How do you know it's 1934? I can't see it anywhere...

    4. Oh dear you are so unlucky! You definitely need to start trying to influence the choices....

    5. Yes, I do. I have found the book to read though, even if I did have to buy it on kindle for a pound. I have my own copy, but haven't uncovered it yet.

  3. I've read the Ripley books, Act Of Passion and Our Man In Havana. All very good indeed!

    1. I should give Ripley another go at some point and I've not yet tried any of Simenon's work. I keep getting waylaid by newer books!

  4. Col, you got some great books by equally great authors here. I'm familiar with Angela Savage via her blog though I have not read her fiction yet. I'll be looking forward to your reviews of her novels. Thanks for the mention — PUBLIC MURDERS is realistic and gritty with some excellent police procedural. I have a feeling you will like it.

    1. I think I bought Angela's book after Margot mentioned her more than once and she does drop in on her blog occasionally. I don't follow Angela's blog TBH, maybe I will see after reading her book. Looking forward to the Granger, someday!

  5. This is a classic box - lots there I'd like to read +/- re-read. I really like Helen MacInnes but I fear she might be too romantic for you... ;-)

    1. Vicki, I hope she isn't but I'll soon find out...soon being sometime in the next 10 years or so.

  6. This tub looks to be a winner! Highsmith should be raised all the way to the top of your list however. Next to Derek Raymond, she is a must read.

    1. Highsmith and Raymond - ok duly noted. I don't think you've steered me wrong yet!

  7. You have a lot that I want to read here (in addition to the ones already mentioned in comments by others). The Gary Disher Wyatt books. I have not found any of those. The Cornell Woolrich. Glen is interested in his books. And a Harry Devlin book. I have the first in that series.

    1. I'm trying to cut down on getting new books, even review copies and freebies so I can read more of my own. I want to get back to doing some series reading, which I started in 2013 - one a month working my way forwards. Disher and Wyatt should figure at some point.
