  1. Not surprised to see Wambaugh and Leonard here, Col. I hope you'll enjoy them (and, of course, the rest of what you have there, too).

    1. Thank you Margot. Looking forward to a lot of these.

  2. I played a little game here: Nathan Heard, Howard Street. Which was title, which author? I got it wrong. But Nathan Heard would be a great title I think. The cover of The Rabbit has left me speechless. (If I ever need that picture for the blog - I won't be covering the book.)

    1. Both have a ring to them....Howard Street if you're interested.....Howard Street is a street of doomed souls - whores, junkies, pushers, winos, thieves and corrupt cops. This novel relates and entwines individual stories revealing a community whose lives and aspirations are tempered by poverty and the omnipotence of drugs.
I've read it before, but it'll stand a re-read. Heard was a black American author, this one was late 60's.

Haha - you can see it again tomorrow... 2 BY TED LEWIS!
You never know you may change your mind!

As an aside - did you see I get to read IRONSIDE for the PO March meme?

  3. Col, I haven't read Joseph Wambaugh in several years though I'd scarcely remember what I read then. Thanks for the reminder. You're right, "Valdez is Coming" is a very good book and I'm going to read it. Strangely, I haven't sampled Leonard's westerns yet. I'd say he and Wambaugh are the picks of your Tub 21 though I spotted more new authors, like Tim Dorset, for instance.

    1. It's been a similar length of time for me in respect of Wambaugh. Dorsey's crime fiction is laced with humour which isn't everyone's cup of tea.

  4. I still have not read any Elmore Leonard. I have to get to some of his books this year.

    3. Nice to see you're so organised. When will you start clearing a space for the new stacks?

    4. That is the problem. I do hope to go through some books and pass them on to others, and read a few between now and then. And buy less this year.
