It...Ah, man, pick up Wambaugh's The Choirboys. It was one of my strongest influences to go into policing (only watch the flick if you want to have a sort of mediocre companion piece). The sad thing about Wambaugh is how little newer generations of US coppers are familiar with him. <br /><br />The New Centurions is also great (as is the movie - one of the most realistic portrayals of American policing in the 70s.
