To my astonishment, they had several of his books (we live in a very Republican area, so it's James Patterson and Danielle Steele country -- translated fiction is abhorred like movies with subtitles), so I opted for the earliest they had.noirencyclopediahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02843963811822980754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2109031751968258131.post-24365387047379043352018-10-10T05:19:24.730-07:002018-10-10T05:19:24.730-07:00Prashant, it's quite a busy book and it's ...Prashant, it's quite a busy book and it's possibly a toss-up between Gerda and Harper as to which of them was the most interesting to me.col2910https://www.blogger.com/profile/06422138069939709043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2109031751968258131.post-64393880708882866632018-10-10T05:18:09.612-07:002018-10-10T05:18:09.612-07:00I think Hall is a very skilled author, Margot and ...I think Hall is a very skilled author, Margot and if not this book, maybe something else by him would be worth a look. I did enjoy it, there's lots going on, but in the end I maybe spoiled it for myself by not reading the earlier offering. It would have been more revealing about Harper's motivations. col2910https://www.blogger.com/profile/06422138069939709043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2109031751968258131.post-84732346847215994262018-10-10T04:52:28.006-07:002018-10-10T04:52:28.006-07:00Col, this must have been an intensely entertaining...Col, this must have been an intensely entertaining read, the 300-odd pages doing full justice to so many elements of crime. The author has cast a wide net. Gerda's character, while interesting, is straight out of those one-woman assassin movies and seemingly overshadowing Harper McDaniel.Prashant C. The settings appeal to me, and Harper certainly sounds like a strong character. Not sure this is for me, but it is an interesting premise. And I know exactly what you mean about reading books in order. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
